We\u2019ll explain the basics and the principles to you and advise you on how to easily draft and<\/span> <a title=\"Design Own Survey Free\" href=\"\/\/www.survio.com\">create your own questionnaire<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n<h2><b>What Is a Questionnaire, Actually?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A questionnaire is a data collection method for quantitative research. A questionnaire means a form\u2014which might be made of paper, or might be made of electrons. Using this form, information is gathered for respondents, who fill the form out. A questionnaire is a very simple tool for market research, product evaluation, determining satisfaction levels, and investigating many other areas (here are the most frequent<\/span> <a title=\"Types of Online Surveys\" href=\"\/\/www.survio.com\/en\/types-of-surveys\">types of online questionnaires<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-247\" title=\"Survey examples\" src=\"\/en\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/feature02.jpg\" alt=\"Online Survey Examples\" width=\"460\" height=\"373\" \/><\/p>\n\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Examples of online questionnaires:<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n \t<li><em>Customer Satisfaction Survey, Service Cancellation Survey<\/em><\/li>\n \t<li><em>360 Degree Feedback Survey, Employee Performance Survey<\/em><\/li>\n \t<li><em>Service Feedback Survey, Buying Experience Survey, Product Pricing Survey<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>The Basic Data Collection Methods<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n \t<li><b>Quantitative content analysis<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (of a printout or documents).<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><b>Standardized comparison<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 the observer examine a specific respondent during normal or specialized activities. The researcher records important data.<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><b>Standardized interview<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 the questioner holds an in-depth interview with respondents to determine the needed data.<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><b>Secondary analysis of collected data<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> \u2013 secondary work with already-collected data. This is mainly done using statistical software, where individual results are compared with other results.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A <a title=\"Design Your Own Questionnaire\" href=\"\/\/www.survio.com\/en\/online-questionnaire-design\">questionnaire<\/a>\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an efficient, simple, and above all inexpensive way to obtain valuable information that you need from your respondents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Before you start creating a questionnaire, you should define your research questions, your hypotheses, and the variables that you want to cover through it.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> We discuss the topic of\u00a0<\/span><a title=\"Quantitative Research \u2013 Survey Problem Formulation\" href=\"\/en\/blog\/popular-series\/quantitative-research-survey-problem-formulation\">formulating research problems<\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in the second part of this series<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n<h2><b>Where and How Should You Create Your Survey?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many ways to create a questionnaire survey. Since they\u2019re specialized for the job, they make survey creation very easy, and both laymen and professionals can work with them well. Both free and paid types exist.<\/span><\/p>\n\n<ul>\n \t<li><b>Free survey tools<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have certain limitations. Free tools are usually time-limited or have feature restrictions. For example they only let you create a limited number of surveys, or they only let you record and process a limited number of answers.<\/span><\/li>\n \t<li><b>Paid systems\u2014these are made for intensive use by either students or<\/b> <b>professionals.<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These types of tools usually have no limitations on time, response count, or features. That way, your respondents will have a clear idea of what\u2019s expected of them.
