Dear participant
For my research I am exploring how the absence of women in the dutch political system shapes society and policy. With participating in this survey you will help me come to a better idea of the lack of female representation in the dutch political system and how it affects us.
Fo the people that might don't know a lot about dutch political system, here are some statistics:
As of December 2023, the Dutch House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer) comprises 89 men, 60 women, and one non-binary member, marking the first time a non-binary individual has been recorded in the parliament. In the Senate (Eerste Kamer), women hold 30 out of 75 seats, accounting for 40% of the total.
Compared to 2017, 54 out of 150 seats were held by women, equating to 36%. As of March 2025, the Netherlands has 14 political parties represented in the House of Representatives (Tweede Kamer). Among these, five parties are led by women.
Over the past decade, the representation of women in the Dutch parliament has remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 36% and 40%.
It will take around 4 minutes to fill in. Thank you for participating in this survey!
