Questionnaire to develop a Competence Profile of Youth Workers

MAV - Mapping, Assessing and Validating Competences of Youth Educators Working with NEETS

Projekt nr 2017-1-PL01-KA205-035785

  • In 2015, more than 6,6 million of young people (aged 15-24 years) were neither in employment nor in education or training (NEETS) in the EU. Many of them come from a disadvantage background.
  • Most services addressed to NEETS are delivered by youth educators, however a European standard for youth educators working with NEETS, and tools to check the quality of their work is missing.
  • This project wants to improve the current situation by mapping the Competence Profile of youth educators working with NEETS, and by developing a methodology for assessment of their competences called expertise checkup, an e-course for assessors, a European certification and register for assessors and youth educators that have passed the checkup. The checkup will be carried out thanks to a web platform. The description of the competence profile of the youth educator working with NEETs will be based on ECVET, and the checkup on the European Council recommendations on validation of non-formal and informal learning and to the European Guidelines for validating non formal and informal learning developed by CEDEFOP.
  • The project consortium is composed by organizations working with NEETs based in PL, UK, ES and SK.
  • Approximately over 7.000 youth educators and organizations will be informed about the project, and over 400 youth educators will be directly involved in it.
  • Long term benefits will be better quality of European youth work with NEETs and improved recognition of skills of European youth educators.
  • AIM OF THE PROJECT: to assess and rise the competence of youth educators working with NEETS.
  • Why MAV project is innovative:
  • So far a European system for certification of competences of youth educators working with NEETS is missing;
  • It describes the occupation of youth educators working with NEETS according to ECVET framework;
  • It develops a procedure for assessing and validating competence of youth educators working with NEETS based on European Council recommendation on validation of non-formal and informal learning and to related European Guidelines for validating non formal and informal learning develop in 2015 by CEDEFOP. Additionally, its procedure is based on a web platform, so as to assure easiness of use and its spreading;
  • It develops an e-course for assessors structured according to learning outcomes;
  • The occupation will be referenced with EQF, in compliance with the 10 European Criteria.
  • The purpose of this questionnaire is to map the current situation of youth workers who are working with NEETS
