(GE sorghum refers to Genetically Engineered sorghum, which is sorghum that has been modified using genetic engineering techniques to introduce desirable traits that do not naturally occur in the plant or are difficult to achieve through traditional breeding. The desirable traits include, tolerance to diseases, Pest & disease resistance e.g striga, boost high yields etc) Suppose that it becomes available in the market and it produces 30% more yield than local varieties, is resistant to striga weed and drought, and matures 2 weeks earlier. However, it costs more than current seed.
