My name is Anisa, and I am conducting this study as part of my Master’s dissertation in Social Work at the University of Wolverhampton. As a second-generation Pakistani woman myself, I understand firsthand the unique challenges faced by many of us in balancing cultural expectations with personal aspirations, particularly in the areas of education, career, marriage, and family roles.

This study aims to explore how cultural expectations affect the lives and well-being of second-generation Pakistani women living in the UK. Specifically, it will focus on the tension between cultural norms and Islamic teachings, especially regarding education, marriage, career choices, and family roles.

I am particularly interested in how these challenges manifest in daily life and how social work can provide more culturally sensitive and supportive interventions. By participating in this questionnaire, you will help provide valuable insights into these experiences, and contribute to shaping better social work practices that take cultural nuances into account.

Why Your Participation Matters:

Your insights are crucial to understanding the complex ways in which cultural practices and Islamic teachings shape the lives of second-generation Pakistani women. I believe that your experiences will offer valuable perspectives on how social workers can support individuals in navigating the challenges associated with balancing cultural identity, personal beliefs, and societal expectations.
