There are two main types of standardization:
Physical (or Process) Standards – These include standardized products, packaging, emergency kits, telecommunications, warehousing, and other logistics processes (e.g., the IFRC/ICRC product catalogue).
Organizational Standards – These involve shared protocols and practices such as training programs, communication systems, quality assurance processes, and information sharing mechanisms (e.g., Sphere standards or standardized reporting formats).
