The Dutch Safety Board investigates allisions between inland vessels and bridges, locks, and other man-made structures. These structures are also known as "engineering structures."
The number of collisions has been increasing in recent years. This results in damage to the vessel involved and its cargo. An allision can also impact the waterway and the environment. Users of bridges and locks may experience inconvenience if the bridge or lock in question is closed for inspection or repair. With this investigation, the Dutch Safety Board aims to improve safety in inland navigation.
For this investigation, we want to gather information from people working in inland navigation. We are doing this in various ways, including this survey. Completing the survey is anonymous, and your answers will be treated confidentially. The survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete.
What does the Dutch Safety Board do?
We investigate accidents and unsafe situations. The aim of our investigations is to improve safety in the Netherlands. We want to prevent accidents from happening again, but we do not investigate who is guilty or who must pay for the damage.
