Survio connects to the outside world in several ways, and they solve different problems.
The quickest way to decide: to ask questions about your results, use MCP. To make something happen automatically every time a response arrives, use a webhook.
Compare at a glance
| What it's for | Who sets it up | Runs without you? |

Pulling data into your CRM, warehouse or BI tool | A developer | Yes
Connecting Survio to thousands of apps without code | Anyone | Yes

Use cases
Understanding what people actually said
MCP. Your AI assistant reads the responses and tells you the themes, the complaints, the difference between two channels - then turns that into a deck or a summary. No export, no pivot tables.
Knowing the moment someone leaves a bad score
A webhook. A response arrives, and Survio pushes it to Slack, your CRM or your helpdesk within seconds.
Getting survey data into your own systems
The API. Full programmatic access, on your schedule, in your own code.
Turning a response into a task, a row or a message
Zapier, unless a webhook can point straight at the tool. Zapier is quicker to set up; a webhook is faster and has no third party in the middle.
Just getting the answers into a spreadsheet
How MCP differs from the API
The API is for software. A developer writes code that calls it. It runs on a schedule or a trigger, without anyone watching. Use it when the same thing has to happen every time.
MCP is for you. You ask in plain language and get an answer in seconds. Use it when the question is different each time.
If you'd write the instruction down once and let it run, that's the API or a webhook. If you'd ask a colleague, that's MCP.
Can you use more than one?
Yes, and most teams do. They don't conflict, and turning one off doesn't affect the others. A common setup:
A webhook puts new responses into other systems like Slack, Database, CRM and so on.
The Google Sheets export collects everything in a spreadsheet
MCP is how someone asks, once a month, for the whole lot to be read and summarised
Which need a developer?
No for Claude Desktop and v0. Claude Code, Cursor and Codex are developer tools, so they assume some comfort with a terminal or config file.
Not necessarily - click Get expert setup on the Webhooks page and our team builds it for you.
