Survey logic with question skips is a premium feature often used for screening (filtration) questions at the beginning of a survey, but can also be used within the survey itself, allowing the respondent to jump to relevant sets of questions.
Below, you can find 2 examples of Survey logic application to your survey
Example #1: Gender-based screening
You are conducting a survey about facial hair targeted towards men. To ensure relevant results, it would be prudent to filter out female respondents (assuming women typically do not have beards).
1. Create a screening question asking the respondent to select their gender.
2. Hover over the question in the Survey builder and select from the menu Question skips.
3. A popup window appears, where you define the survey logic rules.
4. Select the skip rule based on your preferences. You can move the respondent:
a) To any following question in survey
b) End the Survey (Submit button)
c) Redirect to specific website
5. Questions with a logic rule applied will show a number next to the text "Logic" when the question is clicked.
Example #2: Car model-based screening
As the president of a local car enthusiast club, you want to gather information on the most popular car model in your area. To avoid owners of model A from answering questions about model B, you can apply survey logic to redirect respondents to the appropriate set of questions.
Here’s how:
1. Create a question asking respondents which car model they own.
2. To create a rule, hover on the question and select Skip questions in the menu.
3. Create a rule and choose the appropriate action from the drop-down menu for each answer. This ensures respondents are directed to the correct set of questions. If a respondent does not own a relevant model, they can submit the survey. The number next to the question corresponds to the page number.
Please Note:
You cannot apply a rule that directs respondents from page 1 to page 2, as that is the logical progression. For example, if questions about the Sandero model are on page 2, you can only apply skips from page 1 to pages 3 or 4. However, you can direct respondents from pages 2 or 4 to submit their survey, even if the survey has 20 pages.
4. Create a rule set for follow-up questions. For advanced surveys, you can apply multiple layers of rules. For example, after respondents answer what they like about a particular model, the survey can be submitted automatically.
5. Click SAVE, and your rules will be saved.
Note:
Each question type can have different options in setting up the question skips. Conditional (“if formatting”) is not possible with Survio’s question skip. You can always check the question skip per question type in the survey builder, following the instructions above.
NPS question skips options
Within the NPS question, you can set up the logic and even alert your mail based on specific rating or per group (Detractor, Neutral, Promoter).
Thanks to detailed setup, you can promptly reach respondents with negative ratings and ensure increase of your customer’s satisfaction.
