It’s useful for comparing opinions or ratings across several related topics.

You can toggle between single choice and multiple choice options using the menu on the right-hand side.

Question type detail

A matrix question allows respondents to evaluate several items using the same scale. It appears as a table with rows (items) and columns (rating options).

As every question type, can be set as mandatory or optional.

How to use it

• Add clear, consistent scales (e.g., “Strongly disagree” to “Strongly agree”).

• Keep the number of rows manageable.

• Use for comparisons or multiple evaluations.

• Matrix question works as an interactive table that can be moved to the left and right in a case where you add a high amount of choices that can not be displayed on a single screen.

When to use it

• “Please rate the following aspects of our service.”

• “How would you evaluate each department?”

• “Rate the importance of each feature.”

How to evaluate

Matrix questions are evaluated by calculating average scores per item or counting responses per column. The report typically displays grouped bar charts or heatmaps for visual comparison across all items.

Each question type has various options of graph interpretation in Survio analytics. Besides summary statistics via graphs, individual responses can be downloaded from the platform for further analysis.

Due to the nature of this question type, only column charts can be used to display the results.
